TAXPAYERS living in a major state can qualify for up to $1,000 in tax rebates.

Funds will go out shortly, but not everyone in the state will be able to get cash.

Pennsylvania’s Property Tax / Rent Rebate, or PTRR, has been in effect for decades.

Recipients will get more cash this year than years prior.

The program offers benefits to seniors, disabled adults, as well as widows and widowers.

A bipartisan bill in passed in 2023 expanding the program to offer a maximum payout of one grand, according to local public broadcaster WITF.

Rebate applications must be submitted by June 30. 

Payments will start going out on July 1.

HOW IT WORKS

The state is now offering rebates on 2023 taxes and rent. 

Residents must have lived in the state last year to qualify.

You must have also already paid your property taxes or rent.

Payouts will go to low-income residents who are over 65, disabled, or widows and widowers over age 50.

To qualify, you must make less than $45,000 per year.

Based on your income, you can get payments between $380 and $1,000.

The state says the program has offered over $8 billion in relief to residents since it began in 1971.

Residents need to re-apply every year that they are eligible.

Applications are available online.
