WALMART customers are not taking well to new changes at the self-checkout.
Since the store added new perks for Walmart+ members, shoppers without the membership are feeling slighted.
Offering deals like free delivery on groceries and other goods for $0 delivery fees, Walmart's membership program launched in 2020.
Recently, the retailer threw another benefit at Walmart+ members.
It gave them exclusive access to certain self-checkout kiosks along with the option to self-scan their groceries.
Known as "Mobile scan & go," the perk allows customers to shop and then check out with their phone in-store.

Walmart is also giving special self-checkout privileges to users to Spark delivery drivers.
Because a Walmart membership costs $98 yearly or $12.95 per month, customers have started saying it costs just to use a self-checkout kiosk these days.
And they're speculating why Walmart went with this specific perk in the first place.
"I saw somewhere that Walmart been charging more at self-checkout," wrote one user in a post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

"I’m not surprised especially cause theft has gone up since they installed so many lanes but they got a lot of damn nerve."
Another user speculated on why the store added the perk, suggesting reserved kiosks could test how a movement back to cashiered lanes might help miss-scanning and theft.
But it isn't all rosy, even for card-carrying Walmart members.
"Walmart kind of annoyed you have over nine self-checkouts and you only open two which is fine," one shopper fumed on X.
The U.S. Sun reached out to Walmart in a request for comment.

As customers continue to fume over changes at the self-checkout, others say they'll do anything not to deal with the kiosks.
