THERE has been a lot of buzz in the gaming world recently about sweepstakes casinos.

Since they offer all of the same casino-style fun without the payment requirements of traditional online casinos, they’re seen as a more sensible option. Considering they still also give players the ability to redeem their coins for prizes, what’s not to like?

Vegas Gems is one of the latest sweepstakes casinos to launch. If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for a new social casino to try. I like comparing them, seeing how they stack up against each other, and exploring the games and offers they have that set them apart from the rest.

Keep reading to find out why I think Vegas Gems just might be a true diamond in the rough.

👑 My verdict on Vegas Gems - 4.7 / 5.0

Vegas Gems is a solid new online sweepstakes casino. From the very start I loved the arcade aesthetic that they have, even though dark purple seems to be the color of choice for all sweepstakes casinos these days!

The use of the terms Shards and Gems instead of Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins fits the theme and makes it more unique.

I also loved the selection of games. I miss having some table games but the games of chance make up for it. Crash is too intense for me, but I really liked Wheel and Coinflip since they’re simple and fun.

I thought that the treasure chest feature was a cool addition, though I can understand why some players get frustrated with how different the rewards can be.

If a player knows they could win 1,000 Gems in their welcome chest and only win 1, then their first feeling about the site is disappointment. This may be something that Vegas Gems should consider going forward.

One of their most active social media pages is on X (formerly Twitter). With how chaotic X has become as a platform, I would have preferred to have another way to easily communicate with fellow players and to learn about special events.

As you keep reading, you’ll find my in-depth review of Vegas Gems where I go into all of the factors that I considered when rating this sweepstakes casino.

💚 What I liked and didn't like about Vegas Gems

Vegas Gems is a new sweepstakes casino with plenty to offer but it does still have a few issues to work out. I particularly liked the unique games of chance and the loot box feel of the daily bonus, it was nice to have that extra surprise thrown in.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the fact that information about the site is hard to find without an account, I love being able to see what I’m getting into before I create an account somewhere.

💰 Vegas Gems sportsbook bonus overview and promo code

Vegas Gems casino has a number of bonuses to reward new and returning players. The welcome bonus is divided into two parts. The first is the no deposit bonus that every new player qualifies for.

This is a treasure chest that has a selection of Shards and Gems in it. The amount varies but players will be awarded many shards and up to 1,000 Gems.

The rest of the welcome bonus is a first coin package purchase multiplier. Players who purchase a $20 coin package will receive an additional +50% worth of gems or 10% extra gems for coin package purchases up to $100.

I felt like having a combination bonus like this rewards players who only want to play and those who want to make purchases.

Vegas Gems no deposit bonus

The no deposit bonus on Vegas Gems is essentially a loot crate. As soon as a player creates an account, they have receive a treasure chest to open.

Inside the chest are precious stones like emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds. Each stone has a value in Shards and Gems.

I got lucky with my welcome treasure chest but I can understand why some players prefer to have a set no deposit bonus instead of a surprise one.

Vegas Gems login bonus

The daily log in bonus on Vegas Gems is also a treasure chest. Every 24 hours, players are able to open a new treasure chest with a random amount of Shards and Gems inside.

Bejeweled chests bonus

The bejeweled chest bonus is the closest thing to a VIP program on Vegas Gems. Players can access bejeweled chests by making a certain number of purchases.

Each bejeweled chest has Gems and Shards as well as special bejeweled perks, like double experience points for a limited time.

My in-depth review of Vegas Gems

Vegas Gems is a new sweepstakes casino that uses a Shards and Gems system.

øPlayers can use Shards to play free games and Gems to play games and as a redeemable currency. I’ve used my experience on the site to come up with a rating for each area of a sweepstakes casino that is important for players to know about.

Sign-up process - 4.8 / 5.0

The sign-up process on Vegas Gems was incredibly easy. In fact, any link on the homepage will immediately direct new players to a sign-up page so you don’t even have to hunt for a Sign Up button.

Vegas Gems sign up process

While I appreciated how straightforward the process was, I would have liked to be able to explore the site a bit before I signed up. To sign-up simply:

  1. Click on the Sign Up and Win button (or any other link on the homepage)
  2. Choose how you would like to create an account (with Google or with your Email)
  3. Enter your information and that’s it!

User experience - 4.8 / 5.0

Mobile experience and app - 4.5 / 5.0

Like most sites these days, Vegas Gems is optimized for both desktop and mobile. The site worked well on both my computer and on my Android mobile phone.

I’m sure it will also work well on iOS devices. While the site worked well, it would have been nice to have the option of an app.

Games available - 4.7 / 5.0

Slot games make up most of the games library at Vegas Gems, just like most other sweepstakes casinos. Most of the games are from Pragmatic Play, who are a great studio that produces classic titles like the all time favorite Big Bass Bonanza.

I would have liked to have seen some table games as well and hopefully they will be added as the library expands.

Where Vegas Gems really shines is in their games of chance library. These are incredibly simple but thrilling games where you wager on the outcomes of things like when a rising rocket will crash or if a coin will be heads or tails.

Mines is my favorite because I have a soft spot for classic Minesweeper games.

Bonuses and promos available - 4.2 / 5.0

Vegas Gems prizes and bonuses

Vegas Gems prizes and bonuses

Vegas Gems have a good selection of bonuses. They reward new and returning players which is always nice to see. The treasure chest concept is a nice twist.

The only downside is that there is no consistency, which can be really frustrating for players who feel like they’re always getting the worst chests.

Deposit methods and redeeming - 4.5 / 5.0

Vegas Gems has multiple payment options for purchasing coin packages. Of course it’s never necessary to purchase coins but many players prefer to because then they can control how much they can play.

The processing periods for all of the payment methods is very fast and all of the available methods are trusted.

While the prize redemption process is smooth and simple, it can take a long time.

The average redemption time for some methods is closer to 10 days, which is frustrating at this point. It would be nice to see a gift card option like some other sweepstakes casinos offer.

Security at Vegas Gems - 4.8 / 5.0

Vegas Gems uses SSL encryption to protect their players. This level of encryption is nearly impossible for hackers to brute force crack, which makes it incredibly secure. I felt comfortable using the site and making purchases.

The only problem I found with Vegas Gems is that the name is so generic it’s easy to end up on a less legitimate site posing as Vegas Gems. This isn’t their fault but it is unfortunate.

Customer support and service - 4.0 / 5.0

Vegas Gems customer support form

The customer support team at Vegas Gems is very helpful and responsive.

They answer questions in a timely manner and were able to fix any little issues I came across.

Unfortunately, you can only reach them by email. I personally prefer having the option to call or use a live chat feature because sometimes it’s easier to explain a situation that way.

Important facts to know about Vegas Gems

Sweepstakes casinos are a bit different from other types of online gaming, so it’s important to understand how they work before you create an account.

Here are the most important facts that you need to know about Vegas Gems, the legality of playing there, and how to get coins.

How Vegas Gems works

Vegas Gems is a sweepstakes casino. Sweepstakes casinos offer a similar experience to regular online casinos, with the same games and excitement.

The difference is that sweepstake casino games aren’t played with or for real money.

Instead, Vegas Gems and other sweepstakes casinos use their own currencies. Gold Coins (Shards at Vegas Gems) are used to play games and can be purchased or credited to the player as part of a bonus or promotion.

Sweeps Coins (Gems at Vegas Gems) are also used to play games and then can be redeemed for cash prizes. Sweeps Coins can’t be purchased, they have to be won or credited as a reward for players.

Players can choose to only play with Gold Coins and simply enjoy the site as a social game site. Or they can play with Sweeps Coins to open up the opportunity of earning SC to redeem for prizes.

Getting coins at Vegas Gems

There are many ways to get both types of coins at Vegas Games. The easiest way is as part of promotion, bonus, or special event.

Bonuses can give players both Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins. You can also purchase Gold Coin packages. These packages typically include free Sweeps Coins as a perk.

Some of the other ways to get Coins are through a social media competition, as a daily log in bonus, and by winning tournaments.

In order to operate as a sweepstakes, sweepstakes casinos have to provide their players with a free way to get coins. In most cases, that means having a mailing address that players can reach out to in exchange for free SC.

Legal status of Vegas Gems

Vegas Gems is run by JSP Media Holdings Ltd. This parent company is based in Ireland but they have all of the proper licenses in place to operate legally in the United States.

Players in the US can play at Vegas Gems completely legally unless they live in Nevada, Washington, or Idaho.

Vegas Gems FAQ

1. Is Vegas Gems Casino safe to play at?

Yes, Vegas Gems Casino is safe to play at. Just be careful when entering the address — there are other sites with very similar names that are not as trustworthy.

2. Is there a no deposit bonus at Vegas Gems?

Yes there is a no deposit bonus at Vegas Gems. This is in the form a Welcome Chest that players can open as soon as they’ve created an account. Each chest will have an assortment of gems inside, so the total value may vary slightly but could add up to 1,000 Gems.

3. What are the most popular games at Vegas Gems?

Slot games are always a big hit at social casinos and Vegas Gems has some great titles. I’ve been enjoying the candy-themed Sweet Bonanza, with it’s sugary graphics and bright colors. The other popular games at Vegas Gems are their unique games of chance. Crash will have you on the edge of your seat!

Sites like Vegas Gems

If Vegas Gems has gotten you interested in playing at sweepstakes casinos, there is a whole world of great sites out there for you to explore. These are some of my favorites, particularly because they each have a reputation for always having a great welcome bonus available for new players.

Fortune Coins

As you can tell from the stylized logo, Fortune Coins is a very cool, very modern sweepstakes casino. While not minimalist, the site is streamlined and very easy to navigate. They have over 100 games, including some popular progressive jackpot titles.

The site is optimized for desktop and mobile devices and they accept the top payment apps, including Skrill and Trustly. Fortune Coins does have some strict procedures around verification and prize redemption, so players should be aware of that.

Stake

Stake sets itself apart by having one of the best and broadest games libraries in the industry. Social casinos often only have slots but Stake has slots, video poker, jackpots, blackjack, bacarrat, and dice games. They have titles from all of the leading game developers and even some we’ve never heard of.

Stake is a sweepstakes crypto casino which means payments and withdrawals are made in cryptocurrencies. This means that they are very secure and can be processed very quickly. It also means, however, that if you’re not comfortable with cryptocurrencies then you won’t be comfortable creating an account here.

High 5

High 5 doesn’t have the most distinctive site but it makes up for that by adding a whole new currency to the mix. Instead of just Sweeps Coins and Gold Coins, players at High 5 also have Diamonds. Diamonds are used to boost games and unlock special bonuses. This is a fun new twist to add to the site’s huge library of slots and other games.

Purchases can be made at High 5 by debit/credit card, PayPal and Skrill and prizes can be redeemed through Skrill, Trustly or by check. These are all trusted options and the processing times are short. The minimum withdrawal amount is fairly high however, so keep that in mind.

Chumba Casino

Chumba Casino is one of the best known sweepstakes casinos in the country. A big part of their success comes from offering a wider variety of games than most other social casinos. They have slots, table games, bingo, and even slingo. It isn’t a huge library but it still manages to have something for every player.

Chumba lets their players purchase coin packages through a wide selection of methods, including credit/debit cards, Skrill, Paysafecard, Trustly, or bank/wire transfer. Only Skrill has a minimum payment amount and any fees are set by the payment company, not by Chumba. Unfortunately, the verification and redemption process can take up to 7 business days.
